Canadian Space Summit 2020

A Technology Safeguards Agreement (TSA) provides a framework for working with space-related technologies from the United States.  The United Kingdom, New Zealand and Brazil have signed a TSA with the United States.  These countries are actively pursuing space for commercial, military and research applications, and have taken a leadership position in the new space race.  Canada does not have a TSA with the United States.  Without a TSA Canada is unable to import or use space-related components from the US.  Without American technology, Canada is extremely disadvantaged and will never even join the race.

This presentation will provide a background on TSAs, compare various TSAs, and discuss reasons why Canada must negotiate and sign a TSA.
